Satellite Phone
It’s also known as Satellite Telephone or Satphone.

So, what’s the different with our current mobile phone?

A satellite telephone, satellite phone, or satphone is also a mobile phone. The only difference is that it communicates directly with orbiting communications satellites around the Earth.

In a simple explanation, it’s a telephone that transmits and receives from satellites that provide coverage around the world. Iridium was the first satellite phone company.

But, depending on the architecture of a particular system, coverage may include the entire Earth, or only specific regions.

A popular satellite phone operator includes:

Iridium

Inmarsat

Globalstar

Thuraya

I can’t say about the charges, because it’s difference package and plan between operator.

But the good things is that you can use your phone anywhere, even in a jungle or desert with no cellular coverage.

So, you wanna change your mobile operator? Think twice…
