PTAM + AR on an iPhone 3G
activevision posted a nice video:
Some very early results with Augmented Reality (AR) on an iPhone 3G. This video shows an adaptation of the Parallel Tracking and Mapping system to an iPhone. All processing is done live on the phone. www.robots.ox.ac.uk

Living the dream
. Looks fantastic. It must have been lots of work adopting it. Does it still run in two threads? It looks like the number of points is reduced, but the tracking is still very stable. Well done. Is it going to be featured at ISMAR this year as well?

maybe an android one? I think they don’t have such restrictions for the cam, but maybe I am wrong. anyway this is the thing I am waiting for to start programming on mobiles…

Even though it can’t be AppStore, this would be amazing for research and internal applications. I second the plea for releasing a library! If you need testers or iphone-specific coding help, I and probably several others at my institution would love to help
private beta, perhaps?

Excelent excelent work. Probably the best markerless tracking Ive seen on a portable device by quite a large margin.
I loved the demo on the train, but on an iPhone this is even more incredible.
Cant understand why Apple are so restrictive with the camera :-/

Re App store: You’re unlikely to see AR apps on the store any time soon, since the camera API is officially off-limits.
Re library: Since it can’t be released on the app store, this would probably fall foul of apple’s developer NDA. And anyway it’s not even close to ready for release yet!

Excellent work. Are you intending to release this as a library that iPhone developers can use?
