We were lucky to have grown up in such a great era for music werent we? Even though high school had it’s ups n downs for me, I wouldnt trade the experience for anything!

Scandal was a mainstay back in the 80s when MTV was good.
80s rock is the best, stuff now cant compare that much.

Ditto that!

With vinyl making a comeback, there may be such a thing as a “B side” again. I always thought this song deserved more than The Warrior did. Between “Hands Tied” and “Beat of a Heart”, I completely fell in love with Patty and her pouting looks into the camera. I simply could not get enough of her bouncy dancing style either.

great recording quality =)

I remember this recieved decent airplay when I was younger, but missed the top 40 by one place. It should’ve been a top ten hit. Guess some people were expecting another “The Warrior”.

What an incredibly beautiful song. She had such a great voice. This song still moves me after more than twenty years.

This video stirs up so many positive memories for me as a teenager in the 80’s! I remember when it premiered at night on MTV and sitting and watching for subsuquent days to see it air again. Patty was spectacular on so many levels. The ending of this video is timeless’What I wouldn’t give to go back!

I’m totally in agreement with you as an “80’s” teen! But I wonder just how many of the youngsters even know what a “B side” is? lol!

If you didn’t grow up in the 80’s, it’s virtually impossible to explain the impact of these types of “B side” recordings and their effect on that generation. Thank GOD i was so blessed, being bombarded with HIT after HIT in the mid 80’s that are still iconic today!!!
BTW, todays music licks!

Added proof of what I said.

In truth, Patty Smyth should be up there with all the other leading women vocalists in rock; many of her solo/Scandal songs never got a fair shake — maybe they will the second time around, for she has one of the best voices (male or female); can sing soft, pop and, of course, rock (non has done Led Zepplin better); and hearing her latest songs, she’s proven she gets better with age.

John McEnroe sure has great taste in women.

This song is up there with “Every Breath You Take” and “Give a Little Bit” as far as perfect songs go. A shame it never was given the credit it was due.

Patty has always had an amazing voice and I like the stuff she did after Scandal..Just saw a clip of her singing Led Zepplins Whole Lotta Love live on the David Letterman Show her on YouTube and was blown away..I never saw that before..She nailed it.

This is one of the best songs about sexual bondage ever written. Patti Smyth is the female Rob Halford.

mmmmmmm, can u say “SEXY”??????????
January 6th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
What a total injustice this song only made it to #41 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, as well as the next single “Beat of A Heart: which peaked at #41 as well..
