The sexual romp on Big Brother that outraged sensitivities is likely to lead to new legal clamps on “reality” television shows.
It has also spurred the Government’s determination to bring the internet to heel, with new laws being written to enforce censorship on new web and mobile phone services.
Communications Minister Senator Helen Coonan announced the moves yesterday after receiving a report on the “turkey slap” that saw two male housemates evicted from Channel Ten’s Big Brother House.
Michael Cox, 20, known as Ashley on the show, and Michael Bric, 21, were thrown off the set after Cox appeared to rub his crotch into the face of 22-year-old Camilla Halliwell, who was lying in Bric’s arms.
Halliwell, 22, later said the incident had been a joke and that she had not been offended.
It was not broadcast by Channel Ten, but the scene was streamed live on the internet and picked up by other websites - most of which later withdrew the segment at Coonan’s request.

The station left it to the woman involved, 22-year-old Camilla Halliwell, to explain what happened.
“I must be honest with you - it wasn’t the right thing to do,” she said.
“But I diffused the situation very greatly by wriggling free.
“There was no malice intended. They were doing it in a playful way.
“And when I said very specifically to John, ‘Don’t. No,’ he didn’t do it.
“He said, ‘All right, no. She’s serious this time. No’.”
Ms Halliwell said the men were mucking around.
“They were just mucking around, and John was poking me, and we were tickling each other, and then I got up and went to bed,” she said.
“I said to Big Brother straightaway that it was a joke.”

well i think ashley n john should still be in da house coz camilla siad it was only a joke and they where muckin but yeh i really disagrey that they got takein out of the HOUSR>:( BigBrother coulder been nicer.

I liked john and Ashley and they shouldn’t of been taken out of the house and Camilla is in no stress at all about it and she only said it was a joke and Jamie has no friends left in the house.
I THINK THAT JAMIE AND CAMILLA WILL BE THE LAST 2 LEFT AND I ALSO THINK THAT JAMIE WILL WIN BIG BROTHER

Well I didn’t really like John, but I was forming a huge liking for Ash!!!!!!
(he reminds me of an ex)
But I think the punishment they got was the right thing to do….. I know, BOOOO! But they should have known better…..
All in all it was a joke, but a joke that went to far.
I have to admit, I agree with BIG BROTHER….
