Motorola will also announce it’s “Q” smart phone on 31st May 2006.

Motorola “Q” smart phone is a sleek and powerful communications and entertainment device that does real-time e-mail using Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes, plays mp3 music and video, takes pictures and stores a lot of personal contact and other information.

Motorola has designed the device similar to Research In Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry, but has made the Q about 40 per cent slimmer, or just over one centimetre thick. While there has been much talk of the Q as a “BlackBerry killer,” Motorola is actually targeting the device at a much broader audience than RIM has yet pursued.

Verizon Communications Inc. in the U.S. will be the first wireless network to carry the Q. Motorola will bring the device to Canada a few weeks later through Telus Corp.
