UK. SatCom to distribute Navisystem’s first combined satellite TV and internet access antenna

SatCom, a leading global distributor of satellite communications equipment, has been appointed Distributor for the Navisystem Maritime Antenna, which combines a satellite modem and satellite television reception in one antenna

The Navisystem can receive up to 12 satellites at the same time and can be linked to an unlimited number of decoders to meet the needs of multiple viewers, ideal on a large vessel. Pre-programming of the control unit means that popular television programmes can be found quickly and easily.

No one likes to be out of touch with world news or without communication, even when ‘getting away from it all’ on the once in a lifetime epic voyage. This solution is perfect for receiving those all important e-mails, and catching up with News24 or CNN.

Getting the best crew for a vessel may depend on the ‘comfort’ you can offer and providing television and e-mail/internet facilities are a must in this day and age.

Navisystem comes in 11 models with 22 different combinations for every requirement – the smallest unit is 55cm and the largest 135cm and the choice is dependant on where the boat will be in the world and therefore how far away from the satellite. This choice is vital as it ensures that the reception is clear and consistent whatever the weather or location. The antenna can be dual mode (television and internet access) or tri-mode (television, internet and voice communication).

The satellite internet connection is always on allowing web browsing, voice over internet protocol (VoIP), videoconferencing and e-mail. The modem is light, easy to set up and has cheap communication costs per MB download. SatCom can offer pre and post paid packages plus a voice option using the Thuraya satellite phone. Navisystem will also work with R-BGAN and Thuraya DSL units. The Satellite modem selected depends on the regional coverage required.

Thought:ÂÂ

I live in Malaysia, not in UK. I wonder when this kind of service will be available in my country. Hmmmm….
